Virginia Wood Council
Sep 23, 2026 10:00 AM
The Virginia Wood Council is a strategic advisory body that brings together key stakeholders from across Virginia’s wood and forest products sector to address market challenges, support business retention and growth, strengthen supply chains, foster innovation, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Commonwealth’s forests. Through regular meetings held at least three times per year, the Council collaborates with agencies, industry groups, landowners, manufacturers, and academic partners to provide guidance on market development, workforce needs, investment opportunities, and the Virginia Grown: Forest Products program. It may also advise on the use of public and private funds to modernize operations, build new markets, and advance Virginia’s broader economic development and branding priorities. Each year, the Council submits a report to the Governor’s Office detailing progress toward the goals and objectives established in Executive Directive #2.
