Mar 8, 2021 6:00 PM
A Department of Environmental Quality public hearing on a draft permit for a major modification for the Carroll-Grayson-Galax (CGG) Regional Landfill located in Carroll County. Carroll-Grayson-Galax Solid Waste Authority has applied for a modification to a permit that allows the CGG Regional Solid Waste Landfill to operate an existing landfill. The modification to the permit would allow revision of the cell sequence of construction, addition of side slope drainage, elimination of benches, increase of the landfill cover maximum elevation, modification of the leachate collection and storage system, addition of a 150,000 gallon leachate storage tank, and modification of the stormwater management system. Modification increases the total capacity and top of cover elevation due to elimination of the side slope benches and retaining the design slopes. The draft permit is available at https://www.deq.virginia.gov/Programs/LandProtectionRevitalization/PublicNotices.aspx on the DEQ website. The public may also review the draft permit and application, by appointment only, at the DEQ Southwest Regional Office named below. An appointment is required due to COVID-19 public health and safety concerns.
