The University of Mary Washington Board of Visitors Executive Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2019, to consider new rates for meal plans and student housing effective for the 2019-20 academic year has been postponed. New rates for meal plans, student housing, and tuition and fees for the 2019-20 academic year will now be considered at the Board of Visitors meeting on Friday, April 12, 2019. For meal plans, rate increases are expected to be between 0 percent and 3 percent. The new meal plan rates will be required to support cost increases incurred by UMW's food service provider for the price of food, employee compensation and fuel costs. For student housing, rate increases are expected to be between 0 percent and 5 percent. The associated revenue from the increase will be allocated to support critical renovations to the University's residence halls. For tuition, rate increases are expected to be between 0 percent and 5 percent. For the auxiliary comprehensive fee, rate increases are expected to be between 4 and 15 percent. The increase in tuition and fees will support state-mandated increases in employee compensation, operating cost increases in utilities, contracts, leases, and licenses, equipment replacement needs, student financial assistance and a limited number of strategic priorities. The April 11-12, 2019 meeting of the University of Mary Washington Board of Visitors will be held in the Minor Executive Board Room at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center, 1119 Hanover Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia. This is an open meeting. No public comment will be taken.
